Aventeo's story began during a special time in my life. I was engaged and still in my Ph.D. program when I traveled back to China over summer break to pick out my wedding dress. While I was there, my aunt took me to the mall, and as a wedding gift, she gave me a beautiful solid gold necklace. The memory of that day is still so vivid in my mind, especially the interaction we had with the salesperson.

After I chose my necklace, my aunt looked at one with three stones. She asked the salesperson what it symbolized, and they explained that it represented a happy family—father, mother, and child. My aunt, who had just gone through a difficult divorce, immediately said, “I’m not going to get that!” It was a tender and emotional moment, as she was still healing from the pain of her situation.

I wore that gold necklace almost every day for years. Every time I put it on, I would think of my aunt and her struggles, and I would say a prayer for her. That necklace wasn’t just a piece of jewelry—it carried so much meaning, memory, and prayer. It became a part of my daily life and reminded me of the power of prayer and how our personal stories are woven into the things we wear.

This experience was a huge inspiration behind Aventeo. I realized how deeply jewelry can carry stories, emotions, and significance.
